What are pvc patches?
PVC patches are molded from soft PVC rubber. Each color is its own layer, and parts of the design can be raised and sculpted for a 3D look with crisp edges. They are flexible, waterproof and very hard wearing.
That toughness is why PVC is the usual pick for morale patches, tactical gear and outdoor equipment, often with Velcro backing so the patch can be swapped. PVC works best with solid colors; for full-color gradients, choose UV + PVC.

- Production, about 2 weeks. Starts once the sample is approved and the order is paid in full.
- Free shipping, about 2 weeks. You get a tracking link to follow every stage.
How PVC patches are made
A PVC patch starts as a mold cut from your design. Each color is filled into the mold as its own layer of liquid PVC, then the patch is cured with heat so it sets soft, flexible and solid. Because every color sits at its own level, the design has real depth: outlines stand up, and parts of the artwork can be raised and sculpted for a 3D look. Your backing, sew-on or Velcro, goes on last.
The mold is made once per design. That setup is why PVC costs a little more than embroidery at small quantities, and why the price per patch drops quickly as you order more.

Design tips for PVC
- Use solid colors. Each color is a separate fill, so solid areas come out crisp. For gradients, shading or photo-style art, choose UV + PVC.
- Give text room. Keep lettering at least about 3/16 inch (5 mm) tall. Smaller text can fill in.
- Add a clear outline. A bold border around the design makes the patch read well from a distance and protects the edges.
- Pick a sensible size. 3 inches is the most popular size for gear and Velcro panels. Check sizes at actual scale with the patch size chart.
You do not need to get this perfect. We check your artwork and show any changes on the free mockup before anything is made.

Caring for PVC patches
PVC is easy to look after. Wipe it with a damp cloth and a little mild soap to clean off mud and dust. Patches on clothing can go through a cool wash. Do not put a hot iron directly on the front of a PVC patch, because the rubber can soften. If your patch has iron-on backing, press from the inside of the garment, or through a thin cloth, so the iron never touches the PVC face directly.

What is the difference between PVC and embroidered patches?
PVC patches are molded rubber: waterproof, flexible and able to show raised 3D detail. Embroidered patches are stitched thread with a fabric texture. PVC holds up better in water and rough use; embroidery has the classic stitched look.
Are PVC patches waterproof?
Yes. PVC is waterproof and wipes clean, so it holds up on outdoor gear, bags and equipment that gets wet or dirty.
Can I get PVC patches with Velcro?
Yes. Velcro (hook and loop) backing adds $0.56 per patch. Sew-on backing is included.
How much do custom PVC patches cost?

Most orders take about 4 to 5 weeks from order to delivery: a free digital mockup within 6 hours, a physical sample in 2 to 3 days, about 2 weeks of production after you approve the sample, then about 2 weeks of shipping.
Why do PVC patches cost more than embroidered at small quantities?
Every PVC design needs its own mold. That setup cost is shared across your order, so PVC costs more at 25 or 50 pieces and the gap narrows as the quantity grows.
Can PVC patches be sewn on?
Yes. Sew-on backing is included. PVC is soft enough to stitch through around the edge with a strong needle, and most people use Velcro for gear.
Can I iron on a PVC patch?
Yes. PVC patches are available with iron-on backing. To apply, press from the inside of the garment, or through a thin cloth, so the iron never touches the PVC face directly.
Can PVC patches show gradients or photos?
Standard PVC uses solid color fills. For gradients, shading or photo-style artwork, choose UV + PVC, which prints full color on a PVC base.
